Making money from blogging might feel and look complicated but it really isn’t that complicated when you know the basic blogging success formula. In this article, you’ll learn the step-by-step blueprint I used to take a blog from 0 visitors and $0 revenue to 4,000 daily visitors and over $600 in commissions every day.
Here are the basics:
- Choose a Good Domain
- Install Your Blogging CMS
- Write High Ranking Articles
- Promote Products Within Articles and Earn Commissions
Before we dive into the details, I want you to watch the video below you see some of my blogs and how I’m using them to earn commissions:
Choosing a Good Domain
Choosing a good domain for your blog in order to make money from blogging is all about the “intent” of your blog. In general, you have 2 types of blogs that make money: Branding Blogs and Niche Blogs. Video above only explained the niche blog, but I’m going to explain them both. First, you need to choose a domain. I recommend a website like InstantDomainSearch.com because it shows you what domains are available instantly which saves you time.
Let’s talk about Branding Blogs first. These blogs are created to help establish a company or someone as a brand and authority. The main goal is to get people to know you so you’re not focusing too much on selling. They take more time to build, but they are more effective in the long run. For example, Aversity Blog is a brand blog, designed to get visitors from Google and other search engines on Aversity website. Its goal isn’t to bring sales, but to present our company Aversity to the world.
Brand blogs are much more effective but it’s important to remember what you’re getting yourself into. If you’re not going to work hard and write great content, brand blogs aren’t the best option for you.
Now let’s talk about Niche Blogs. Niche blogs are the fastest way to make money from blogging because they focus on promoting one product only. They rank fast because you build them to rank for a specific keyword only. For example, here’s one of my niche blogs about weight loss before the wedding:
This blog made me over $5,000 in commissions on a single product and is still making me money thanks to the training provided in Aversity’s Niche Blogging Success course. After figuring out what type of blog you’re building, it’s time to buy a domain for it. If it’s a niche blog, you should choose a keyword based domain and if it’s a brand blog, choose a company name or your own name and last name as the domain.
Install Your Blogging CMS
After buying your domain, it’s time to install a CMS. CMS stands for Content Management System and it’s responsible for your blog’s system. These days, WordPress is the best and most flexible CMS you can find. Millions of websites on the internet are built on WordPress and yours should be too. It’s secure, fast and easy to work with.
WordPress also comes with thousands of plugins and tools that will help you build ANYTHING you can imagine on your site. Even some parts of our company’s website (Aversity) is based on WordPress. Big news websites like CNN or NewYork Times also use WordPress. That’s how powerful WordPress is. Most of the hosting companies will install WordPress for free, so all you need to do is to ask!
Write High Ranking Articles
Writing is the hardest step of this process (duh!) and if you’re not a writer, this can be challenging. The thing is, if you want to create a blog that gets a ton of visitors from Google, you need to write both for humans and Google’s algorithm and that’s what I’m about to teach you. Here’s how you write great articles, both for humans and for best Google rankings:
Do a Keyword Research: The worst thing you can do is to write articles that no one is looking for. It’s like making a product that no one wants! So it’s important to do keyword research to see what people are looking for before you write your article. You can use tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or if you want to get fancy, you can try Long Tail Pro. These tools will give you keywords you need to write great articles for your blog.
Use Media In Your Article: Using multiple types of media will help you to keep people on the page which is a major ranking factor in Google. Use videos, images, infographics or even podcasts to keep your visitors as long as possible on your page.
Write Long, Detailed and Helpful Articles: There’s no point in writing anything if you’re not going to provide value and help your readers. So make sure to teach them something they didn’t know before landing on your website, get as detailed as possible and write at least 1,000 words articles for maximum ranking on Google.
Promote Products Within Articles and Earn Commissions
This step is the easiest one, but something that 99% of bloggers mess up! Remember that when promoting products on your blog, you need to follow a flow. Meaning that promotions should come natural, not out of nowhere.
For example, an unsolicited link in the middle of your article or a banner ad on your sidebar won’t get you sales. You need to leave your affiliate links in your content and get people to buy your products because they need it, not because you told them so.
